Full Circle Moment

It's been a busy couple of weeks with lots of changes for Aislin and me! Aislin started her first pre-school Just For Tots and it went much better than I expected! She was a bit clingy at first and I stayed about a half hour to make sure she was ok, then I stayed outside the door peaking in at her for about another half hour, she seemed to be having fun and not missing me so I left my cell number with the receptionist telling her I was going to go for a short drive and I'd be no more than 5 minutes away, to call me if anything at all happens. I was a wreck! So I drive to get a coffee and I'm heading through the drive through and my cell rings....I panicked, spilled my coffee and answered my cell...it was my Mom (who by the way got an ear full of a panic stricken mom leaving her daughter for the first time explanation)...so I went back to get Aislin and there she was sitting at a table on a little kiddie chair eating animal crackers...she looked like such a big girl, my stomach was in my throat! She did great, was a little shy but I think she enjoyed it. It'll be easier when I take her for the second time I hope (at least for me!)
We also had a visit from a family we travelled to China with. It was so good to see them again. We spent alot of time with them in China touring all over the place and so a bond was formed, I can't believe it has taken us this long to get together! The girls had a great time together and it was like no time had passed for them. We wondered how Aislin was going to react to Sue, if she'd remember her or if it would remind her of the orphanage or what. She seemed to recognize her though we aren't sure if that's because we keep a photo of Sue and Aislin in her bedroom. It was a great day. All the families in our group are getting together this weekend for a reunion, it should be alot of fun.
Finally, John was out of town for a week so we took a trip to Cape Breton to see my parents! Aislin loves it there, she's become really close with my Mom and Dad and we are so lucky. When we were there Mom pulled out my all time favorite toy as a child, my Fisher Price Little People!!! So I cleaned it all up and Aislin and I played together. It brought back so many memories of me as a child and the countless hours I would play with this house and it's little people. It was truly a full circle moment to play with this toy with my daughter!

Keeping Busy

Aislin sure is keeping us on our toes! More teeth are peeking through so that has meant many sleepless nights for me. The other night she was just not going to sleep, she woke up at 10pm and it was 2am...so I put her in the car thinking a drive might help...luckily Tim Horton's drive thru was open because I really needed a coffee. The man working there said, why do you look so tired and she looks so wide awake, I just smiled and paid him for my fully caffienated coffee... So as we are driving down the road, someone pulls out and almost cuts me off...it really scared me and I beeped my horn and said "Jesus", little Miss No Words then says...Jesus...note to self, watch my words! She's really picking up words and mimics everything I do. She's really quite a character who loves to laugh and play jokes, she'll take a blueberry to put it in your mouth because she's going to share, and at the last second she'll pull it away from your lips put it in her own mouth and laugh!

She's also getting a real personality of her own and making sure we understand her needs and wants. For example, the other day I was giving her some juice...she didn't want it but I felt she didn't have enough liquids that day so she looked at me, took the cup, took a drink and then walked over to the garbage can and threw the cup in! Enough said!

Next week will be her first "Just for Tots" class. It's a morning session at the YMCA for toddlers and I bring her there and leave...hmmm...the whole point is to get her used to being without me a little bit and to socialize with other children but inside I am so anxious. She's going to be fine, it's me I'm worried about! Ha!

Anyway, life here is still great and every day our little girl continues to amaze us! I'm not sure the dogs are too happy with her right now, she's begun to point her finger at them and yell gibberish when they start to bark at nothing! It's quite cute.
