We're Home!

What a wonderful trip, what a wonderful girl! It's about 8:30 on Sunday morning Nova Scotia time, and so it's 8:30pm China time, I've been awake for almost 48 hours...so has Aislin. She slept a bit on the plane but right now she is upstairs in her crib playing, I am hoping she'll go to sleep at some point. She is still smiling!! It was an enormously long trip home. We left at 2am Saturday morning NS time, and got to NS at 1:30 am Sunday! Other than a meltdown on the flight from Toronto to Moncton, Aislin did really well! We couldn't have asked for more. John is fast asleep and so are the newest Grandparents...we'll let them sleep for a bit longer and then it's my turn! I'll post some pictures so you can all see her now, she is doing so well. She stands so much better, we even got her to eat some applesauce. She had her doctors appointment at the Canadian Embassy and other than some malnourishment causing her to be underweight and have less strength than normal in her legs she is perfectly healthy. We get her checked out on Wednesday from our family doctor. I am hoping to post some other pictures of our trip so you can see some of the amazing places we went to..
It is so nice to be home. My Mom and Dad are so excited about her, once Dad held her he didn't want to give her back...she took to them right away! It is so wonderful that they are here with us, it means the world to me and I know it does to John and Aislin too!! We had lots of messages from Angie and Kyle who are waiting to talk to their little sister, and Sean who is dying to hear his niece's voice!!! Tara, Mike, Ethan and Emma painted a banner welcoming Aislin home, they did a beautiful job!!
And they made us supper (lasagna!!!) so we don't have to cook our first night home. There it was in the fridge, with all the fixings...caeser salad and garlic bread! Wow we really appreciated that! We can't wait to get home to Cape Breton too...there are alot of really special people that we want Aislin to meet. I am particularly looking forward to seeing Jenny, we've been best friends since we were six years old and have shared all the big moments in each others lives...I can't wait for Aislin to meet her Auntie Jen!!!
Here are some pictures from our first moments together, when she was first placed in our arms and then us having a nap!

Welcome Home! I've been checking your site every day - a couple of times a day, since I couldn't remember the exact day you guys were arriving home. John and Tara - she is so beautiful and it is so great to see her finally in your arms! Aislin - you are very lucky that you have the best Mommy and Daddy in the world to love you and take care of you; they've been waiting for you for a long, long time!!
I'm so glad the 3 of you are back in Nova Scotia safe and sound and that you have Tara's parents there too. Catch up on your sleep and treasure your first days at home with your beautiful daughter/granddaughter. :)

Love you guys! God Bless,

Lori (and the rest of the Power family)

PS - I can hardly wait to meet her!

This is like Christmas morning! I can't stop looking at you guys. Amado and Adia just love these pictures - we can't exit this website. Our hearts are with you; this has been such an emotional day. Although I'm not with you I feel like I am.

OK There's just a few things I'd like to tell everyone...

Tara; you are wonderful at everything you do and now you can proudly add "wonderful mother" to your long list of things you are and the things you've done to make me feel so lucky and proud of you. The picture of you sleeping with Aislin is a celebration of your journey. It's beautiful - it's so you.

Congratulations to the Appleby's and Camilleri's - it doesn't get much better than Bill and Penny for Grandparents; wise, funny, talented and they always have answers. Aislin, this will amaze you one day. I promise you that! Oh, and Aislin - get the recipe for Vanilla Milk after you've spent years enjoying it with Grammie.
Aislin, I look up to your Grandparents so much and I can't wait to listen to you say to me one day, "how do they always know what to say?" or "I love walking in their house" it truly is a "feeling" of being home. And wait until you meet Uncle Sean. He'll steal your heart at your first glance. You'll learn to love football just so you can talk about it with him. You're gonna love him!

To Kyle and Angie; I can't wait to meet you both. You have such a great Dad that shows my best friend softness and strength everyday. He truly is wonderful and another dream come true.

Miss Aislin Sarah Fen, you have so much to look forward to. This is truly your gift as much as ours.

...this is such a fairly tale; Tara found a Prince and got married. She made a life-long wish and it came true!

And now, my friend; you can live happlily ever after.....

For the last while I have been having what I called "airport dreams" where I would dream of the day Aislin came home. My dreams would be so perfect and everyone would be so happy. Well last night was no different. Tara, watching you enter the airport with your little angel in your arms was amazing. It is your proud smile that I will not forget. You & John looked so happy. After seeing Aislin with both of you today, I can honestly say she is just as happy. You are all so lucky to have each other.

Love,

Tara, Mike, Ethan and Emma

Jenny you are killing me here. After looking at the pictures I was a mess & so happy for Tara & John, then I read your comments now I am a complete wreak....Don't you know I am 9 mths pregnant here & can't control myself LOL!!! What you said was beautiful & Tara is so lucky to have you as a friend.

Now Tara & John this is a miracle & your little girl is precious & Tara seeing you asleep w/her looked so natural, you got your baby. The picture when you first held her & she is laughing really did me in & with the music playing in the back ground made me feel like I was watching the end of a excellent movie, but really it is the start of a great life together. Please send more picutres, Hailey loves them & can't wait to see her.

Love you guys & now that I am going to have one of those days where I will not be able to stop crying I might as well go watch Beaches or some other tearjerker of a movie LOL

Love Denise, Raymond & Hailey Rae
